  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) is accepting applications for $7.5 million in grants that will be awarded to help clean up former industrial sites in communities throughout the state, revitalizing these properties to put them back into productive use. Made available through the Connecticut Brownfield Remediation program, a total of $6.5 million will be earmarked for remediation projects and $1 million will be used for assessment projects.

  Governor Dannel P. The projects encompass 89 acres of redevelopment.

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today joined state Department of Housing (DOH) commissioner Evonne M. Klein, executives from Forest City Residential Development, New Haven Mayor John DeStefano, Jr. and other state and local officials to break ground on the construction of The Winchester Lofts, part of a two-phase $59.26 million project to turn the long-vacant, former Winchester Repeating Arms Co. factory into a mixed-use property with office space and housing units.

Klein, and Connecticut Housing Finance Authority (CHFA) Executive Director Karl Kilduff today announced that the State of Connecticut will award more than $61.5 million in grants and loans to help create, rehabilitate, or expand 24 housing developments in 20 towns and cities across the state. The investments will create or rehabilitate 978 homes.
