Connecticut Department of Revenue Services Announces Start of 2025 Tax Season

1/29/2025

For Immediate Release

(HARTFORD, CT) – The Connecticut Department of Revenue Services (DRS) today announced that it is currently accepting individual state income tax returns for taxable year 2024. The state and federal income tax filing deadline is Tuesday, April 15, 2025.

"Our dedicated and professional team is ready to help Connecticut taxpayers during this busy time of year,” said DRS Commissioner Mark Boughton. "We encourage taxpayers to file their state returns electronically, which they can do for free using myconneCT or third-party software. Filing electronically is the best way to receive refunds faster and avoid delays in processing returns and payments.”

New for this tax season is the addition of the DRS eAssistant, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to help taxpayers get quick answers to their myconneCT questions. This is available on the myconneCT homepage in the bottom right-hand corner.

This year also marks Connecticut’s participation in IRS Direct File, a new option for users to file federal tax returns at no cost. This option is available via smartphone, tablet, or computer. For more information and to determine eligibility, taxpayers should visit the Direct File website.

DRS offers the following helpful tips for this filing season:

  • Taxpayers should file early and electronically for the fastest possible processing of returns and payments.
  • If taxpayers use myconneCT, they will need to file their federal returns separately with the IRS.
  • Visit the DRS website for more information regarding filing and payment options.
  • To reach DRS by phone during normal business hours – Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. – call 860-297-5962 (from anywhere); 800-382-9463 (within CT, outside Greater Hartford area only); or 860-297-4911 (TTY, TDD and Text Telephone users only).
  • Taxpayers may also email DRS at DRS@ct.gov – please do not include any attachments or images in the body of the email.
  • Taxpayers are encouraged to follow DRS on social media for #TuesdayTaxTips.
