Humira®, Skyrizi® and Rinvoq®, immunosuppressants manufactured by Abbvie, Inc., led the annual Outpatient Prescription Drug summary report published by the Office of Health Strategy (OHS) today. Most of the drugs included in this year's list are considered specialty drugs and target serious or chronic autoimmune or neurological conditions or treat cancer. They are high-cost, complex medications that often require special handling, administration or monitoring.

The Office of Health Strategy (OHS) has adopted the 2026-2030 cost growth benchmarks and primary care spending targets proposed earlier this month. The cost growth benchmark of 2.8% for each of the next five years is tied to projected median household income values over the same period. The primary care spending target of 10% supports the strong foundation of primary care needed for a high-functioning and affordable healthcare system.

Kristin Whitney Daniels rationed insulin when she realized she couldn’t afford her medication and basic expenses like food or rent. “I found it deeply isolating,” she said of the experience. “No one, no matter their disease, no matter their medication, no matter their income, should have to experience this.” Kristin joined the Connecticut Office of Health Strategy (OHS) at an informational public hearing on Monday, June 23, 2025 to share her experiences and explore solutions with key stakeholders from across the state.

The report ranks Connecticut’s health system performance 11th overall nationally and 5th out of the six New England states. While Connecticut’s position in New England remains stable, the state’s national ranking has dropped from 6th in 2023.

Today the Office of Health Strategy (OHS) released a report containing their proposed target values for the next five years of the Healthcare Benchmark Initiative. The report included recommended healthcare cost growth and quality benchmarks as well as primary care spending targets for 2026 – 2030.

OHS invites the public to provide comments on the proposed measures detailed in the Healthcare Benchmarks Initiative Proposed 2026-2030 Benchmarks and Technical Team Recommendations report and in the Healthcare Benchmark Initiative Proposed Quality Benchmarks document. Written comments must be received by the Office of Health Strategy by June 30, 2025.

The Connecticut Office of Health Strategy reached an agreed settlement with Prospect ECHN, Manchester Memorial Hospital  and Rockville General Hospital (RGH) requiring preservation of the current services at RGH.
