2006 Aquatic Plant Survey Map of Oakwood Pond 

Oakwood Pond is a small pond in Guilford, CT. Our July 2006 survey found 11 aquatic plant species. None were invasive. Most of the pond, excluding about ¼ toward the northwest, contains slender naiad (Najas flexilis) and snailseed pondweed (Potamogeton bicupulatus).The southern shoreline contains needle spikerush (Eleocharis acicularis), great water starwort (Callitriche heterophylla), small waterwort (Elatine minima), knotweed (Polygonum species), and elliptic spikerush (Eleocharis elliptica).The eastern-most point of the pond has a large patch of great water starwort. A small area in the middle of the eastern shore contains cattail (Typha species), common duckweed (Lemna minor), and great water starwort. Knotweed and spineless hornwort (Ceratophyllum echinatum) can be found all along the northern shore. Small patches of white water lily (Nymphaea odorata) are found in the northeast cove and near the dock in the south. Humped bladderwort (Utricularia gibba) borders the western shore of the peninsula in the north, along with knotweed, great water starwort, and spineless hornwort. The southwest quarter of the lake appears devoid of all notable plants except for one very small patch of snailseed pondweed.
