• 1/15/2014 Gov. Malloy: Investment Will Create Jobs for Connecticut Residents

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced the state Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) will provide a loan to Oxford Performance Materials (OPM) Inc. for an expansion project at the company’s South Windsor facility. The funding will create or retain 65 jobs for Connecticut residents over the next two years.

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced the state will provide Thompson International Speedway, LLC with an $800,000 loan to upgrade its existing facility in Thompson. Founded in 1940, the company has 48 employees and plans to hire at least 23 more employees over the next two years.

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced American Woolen Company, Inc. is in the process of purchasing Warren Corporation’s operations and assets in Stafford Springs, which is one of the last working textile mills in Eastern Connecticut.

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today released the results of two customer satisfaction surveys that were conducted to determine the level of satisfaction and experience of small business owners who had applied for financial assistance under the Department of Economic and Community Development’s (DECD) Small Business Express Program (EXP).

• 11/24/2014 Gov. Malloy Announces Two New Early College Programs in Eastern Connecticut

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that two new integrated high school and college programs in Windham and New London will launch in the fall of 2015. Modeled after IBM’s much heralded Pathways in Technology Early College High School programs (P-TECH), the Connecticut Early College Opportunity (CT-ECO) programs are Grade 9-14 experiences that allow students to earn an associate degree in addition to a high school diploma.

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that Massachusetts Mutual (MassMutual) Life Insurance Company has opened its new world headquarters for its Retirement Services division in Enfield and, as a result, is strengthening its presence in Connecticut, where the company currently employs 1,900 workers.

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that Marsam Metal Finishing Co., a leading source for metal finishing, is undergoing a $2.5 million expansion project in New Britain that will allow the company to increase its operations to meet growing demand and add 25 new jobs to its current workforce of 34 employees.

  On Thursday at noon, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will hold a news conference in New Haven to announce the recipients of the competitive Arts in Education grants, which are part of a multi-agency partnership between the State Department of Education, the Department of Economic and Community Development-Connecticut Office of the Arts, and the Connecticut Arts Council.

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy, joined by state and local elected officials, today announced that the State Bond Commission on Friday approved funding for Bakery On Main of East Hartford to relocate to a larger facility in a move that will more than double its workforce.
