• 6/14/2017 State Agencies Warn Parents: Avoid Children's Furniture and Other Products Containing Flame Retardant Chemicals

  The Connecticut Departments of Consumer Protection (DCP), Public Health (DPH) and Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) today warned parents and others purchasing children’s products to avoid any product containing one of three flame retardant chemicals that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the state agencies have identified as highly toxic.

  Connecticut’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) Environmental Conservation (EnCon) Police announced that the body of Jay Agli, age 17, of Meriden was recovered at 11:46 a.m. today, June 13, by the State Police Dive Team in the Connecticut River.

  Roads and bike paths to two beach areas at Hammonasset Beach State Park - Meigs and East Beach – are closed because of a project that is underway to improve water and electrical systems within the park.

• 10/25/2017 DEEP Reports Small Die-off in Local White-tailed Deer Herd

  Since early September, the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) Wildlife Division has documented in more than 50 white-tailed deer exhibiting symptoms associated with Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease (EHDV-6), primarily in the towns of Middletown and Portland, with a few in Chester, Haddam, and Lyme.
