  Connecticut’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) is promoting the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) “Air Quality Where You Are” campaign to increase air quality awareness and inspire people to take local actions to protect their health and the environment as part of National Air Quality Awareness Week that begins today, April 30, 2018.

  Connecticut’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) is forecasting Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups (USG) for ozone, across all of Connecticut today June 18, 2018.

• 4/10/2018 2018 Spring Wild Turkey Hunting Season Opens April 25

  Connecticut’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) is reminding hunters that the 2018 Connecticut spring wild turkey hunting season runs from April 25 through May 26.

• 6/26/2018 State Reports Positive Mosquitoes for West Nile Virus in New Canaan

  The State of Connecticut Mosquito Management Program (MMP) announced that mosquitoes trapped in New Canaan on June 19 tested positive for West Nile virus (WNV).

  On June 20, 2018 the Connecticut State Environmental Conservation (EnCon) Police received notification from Danbury Hospital that the victim from the boating accident on Candlewood Lake in New Fairfield yesterday afternoon had died.

• 6/13/2018 Gov. Malloy and AG Jepsen Announce Connecticut Wins Smog Lawsuit Against Trump Administration

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Attorney General George Jepsen today announced that the State of Connecticut and the State of New York won their joint lawsuit in federal court against the Trump administration’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and its administrator, Scott Pruitt, over the agency’s failure to adequately control ozone pollution from other states that negatively impacts air quality in the two downwind states.

  On Sunday, June 10, 2018 at approximately 08:19 hours, Waterbury Police Department received a 911 emergency call from a witness who observed an individual drive over multiple Canada Geese with their vehicle on North Main Street in front of the Knotty Pine package store in Waterbury.

  The body of Spencer Mugford was located today by a commercial fisherman off the coast of Groton, CT at approximately 12:45 pm.

• 6/6/2018 DEEP Announces Temporary Closure of a Portion of the Quinnipiac River in New Haven to Hunting

  (The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) today announced the temporary closure to hunting of the area along the Quinnipiac River in New Haven from the southernmost tip of Fargeorge Preserve (Granis Island) at the mouth of Hemingway Creek, across the river to Lombard Street, north to the I-91 Bridge.

  The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) Environmental Conservation Police (EnCon) with the assistance of Old Saybrook Police, on Tuesday morning recovered a body on Long Island Sound off the coast of Old Saybrook.

  The Governor’s Greenways Council on Friday commended eight individuals, and a volunteer committee of the Last Green Valley, that have made significant contributions to the promotion, development and enhancement of Greenways – linear open space in Connecticut – and designated three new State greenways at a ceremony at the Nathan Lester House, in Ledyard.
