  (HARTFORD, CT) – The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection announced today funding for improvements at Seaside State Park in Waterford.

• 5/30/2023 DEEP Forecasts Elevated Levels of PM2.5 from Smoke Today

  (HARTFORD)—Connecticut’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) is expecting smoke from wildfires over Nova Scotia to elevate fine particulate matter (PM2.5) levels for several hours today. These levels are expected to exceed Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups (USG) levels for a period of four hours, beginning after 2:00 p.m. today.

• 10/4/2023 Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island Sign First-Time Agreement for Multi-State Offshore Wind Procurement

  (HARTFORD, CT) – Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island today announced New England’s first offshore wind multi-state coordination memorandum of understanding (MOU), which creates a pathway for a potential coordinated selection of offshore wind as each state solicits offshore wind energy generation through their respective state procurements. This MOU is the first of its kind in the United States.

• 7/14/2023 DEEP to Renew Stakeholder Engagement on Bottle Bill Implementation

  (HARTFORD) — The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) is seeking public input on the implementation of recent and upcoming changes to Connecticut’s Bottle Bill, and will be holding a public meeting on this process on Monday, July 24 at 1 p.m. In order to maximize transparency and engagement with all stakeholders interested in Bottle Bill implementation, DEEP will convene a Bottle Bill Advisory Group that will meet regularly in coming months.

• 12/22/2023 2024 Connecticut Migratory Bird Conservation Stamp Art Competition Welcomes Entries through March 15, 2024

  (HARTFORD) — Entries are now being accepted for the 2024 Connecticut Migratory Bird Conservation Stamp Art Competition. This annual competition, which seeks creative young artists and art educators in Connecticut, is coordinated and sponsored by the Connecticut Waterfowl Association in cooperation with the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP). The competition is part of a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) environmental education program known as the Federal Junior Duck Stamp Conservation and Design Program.

• 11/9/2023 DEEP Announces Firearms Deer Hunting Season Begins November 15

  (HARTFORD) — Connecticut’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) today issued a reminder that a variety of hunting seasons are currently underway or about to begin, most notably the opening of the fall firearms deer season on Wednesday, November 15. • 6/12/2023 DEEP Announces $1.46 Million to Support Clean Air Vehicle and Equipment Projects in Connecticut

  (HARTFORD, CT) – The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) announced today the awarding of more than $1.46 million to support the state’s efforts to reduce diesel air pollution. The eight projects announced today are part of the 2022 Diesel Emissions Reduction Act (DERA) State Grant Program.

  (HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Ned Lamont today announced that sixteen members of the Connecticut Interstate Fire Crew (CIFC) mobilized early this morning from the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection’s (DEEP) Eastern District Headquarters in Marlborough to fight wildfires in Montana.

• 10/27/2023 Connecticut Releases Clean Energy Solicitations

  (HARTFORD, CT) — The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) today released two Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for new grid-scale zero carbon electricity resources. The proposals will help advance Governor Lamont’s Energy Action Plan to improve energy affordability and reliability for Connecticut ratepayers, and help achieve the state’s statutory mandates for a 100 percent zero carbon electric sector by 2040 and economy-wide greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction of at least 80 percent below 2001 levels by 2050.

  (HARTFORD)—Connecticut’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) is expecting smoke from wildfires over Quebec to elevate fine particulate matter (PM2.5) levels on Saturday, July 1. These levels are expected to reach Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups (USG) levels for the entire state. The Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH) also is issuing guidance and information on protective measures. Ozone levels (smog) are also expected to reach USG levels in Fairfield and New Haven counties.
