  • Connecticut Energy Assistance Program

    The Connecticut Energy Assistance Program (CEAP) is now open at community action agency sites around the state. To schedule an appointment, please call your local community action agency at the phone number provided below. You can also contact 2-1-1- United Way or the DSS Office of Community Services at 1-800-842-1132 for contact information on the intake site closest to where you reside.

  • Medicare Savings Program

    The State of Connecticut offers financial assistance to eligible Medicare enrollees through our 'Medicare Savings Programs.' These programs may help pay Medicare Part B premiums, deductibles and co-insurance.

  • Alzheimer's Respite Care Program

    This program offers relief to stressed caregivers by providing information, support, the development of an appropriate plan of care, and services for the individual with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementia. Administered by the Department on Aging.

  • Temporary Family Assistance - TFA

    TFA is a cash assistance program for basic and special needs which is paid to eligible families with minor children and pregnant women.

  • State Supplement for the Aged, Blind and Disabled

    The State Supplement program gives money to help people with disabilities and the elderly meet basic living costs.

  • Self Direction Personal Protection Equipment Request Form Submission (*Online)

  • Board of Education and Services for the Blind

    The Board of Education and Services for the Blind (BESB) is responsible for the confidential registry of people who are blind in Connecticut and provides, within available resources, comprehensive low vision services, specialized education services, life skills training, case management, and vocational services to individuals of all ages who are legally blind and to children who are visually impaired.

  • Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services

    Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services was created by the Connecticut Legislature in 1974 to advocate, strengthen and implement state policies affecting Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals and their relationship to the public, industry, health care, and educational opportunities. As of July 1, 2011, Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services is involved in an agency consolidation with the Department of Rehabilitation Services.   • Housing Options for Seniors

    The Aging Services Division, Connecticut’s State Unit on Aging, administers many programs for housing with the diverse needs of seniors in mind. Included in these programs are assisted living, congregate housing, independent living options, continuing care retirement communities and more.

  • Welfare to Work (Department of Labor)

    The mission of the Department of Labor's Welfare to Work unit is to guide the provision of comprehensive, integrated employment and family support services that enable recipients of public assistance and those who are at risk of becoming recipients, to gain economic independence, and engage in life long learning.   • Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) Program

    The program is designed to assist participants to relearn, improve or retain the skills needed to live successfully in the community.

  • CHOICES is CT's State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) for Medicare Beneficiaries.

    CHOICES Is administered by the State of Connecticut Department on Aging, in partnership with the Area Agencies on Aging and the Center for Medicare Advocacy, Inc. Our mission is to ­empower, educate, and assist Medicare-eligible individuals, their families, and caregivers through objective outreach, counseling, and training to make informed health insurance decisions that optimize access to care and benefits.

  • Department of Rehabilitation Services

    The Department of Rehabilitation Services (DORS) administers the Title I Vocational Rehabilitation and Title VI Supported Employment (SE) programs of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended. As of July 1, 2011, the newly-created Bureau of Rehabilitative Services is involved in an agency consolidation with the Board of Education and Services for the Blind, the Commission on the Deaf and Hearing Impaired, the Bureau of Rehabilitation Services, part of the Department of Social Services and part of the Workers Compensation Commission.
