Gov. Malloy Announces Launch of Go CT Card, Creating Greater Ease for Bus Transit Riders
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Department of Transportation Commissioner James P. Redeker today announced the launch of a new “tap and go” fare card that will provide increased convenience and ease for public transit commuters who ride the state’s bus system by allowing them to place funds into an account connected to the card, and then simply tapping the card on the fare box each time when boarding. Riders who use the card will automatically receive any discounts that are available, providing them with the lowest possible fare without any guesswork.

Gov. Malloy: Flags Lowered to Half-Staff in Honor of the Victims of the Mass Shooting at Pittsburgh Synagogue
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that – in accordance with a presidential proclamation directing flags to be lowered to half-staff throughout the country in honor of the victims of the mass shooting at The Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania – U.S. and state flags in Connecticut will fly at half-staff beginning immediately until sunset on Wednesday, October 31, 2018.

Gov. Malloy Activates State’s Severe Cold Weather Protocol from Wednesday Afternoon Through Friday Morning
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that in anticipation of temperatures over the next couple of days that are forecast to be bitter cold with negative wind chill factors at times, he is activating the State’s Severe Cold Weather Protocol beginning on the afternoon of Wednesday, November 21, 2018 and remaining in effect through Friday morning. This is the first time this season that the protocol has been enacted.

Gov. Malloy Encourages Veterans to Apply for Troops to Teachers Program
In observation of Veterans Day, Governor Dannel P. Malloy is reminding school districts, veterans and their families, and all residents about Connecticut’s Troops to Teachers program, and encouraging service members and veterans to apply. Troops to Teachers is an initiative that provides service members who are transitioning into civilian life and veterans who have already left service with the training necessary to seek careers as school teachers in K-12 schools. The program, which also helps participants find employment as a teacher once the training is complete, helps reduce veteran unemployment while also providing students with exceptional role models in the classroom.

Gov. Malloy: State Will Illuminate the ‘Q Bridge’ in Red, White, and Blue This Weekend in Honor of Veterans Day

Gov. Malloy and Lt. Gov. Wyman Celebrate the Ten-Year Anniversary of Same-Sex Marriage in Connecticut
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman are celebrating the ten-year anniversary of the legalization of same-sex marriage in Connecticut and inviting state residents to commemorate the important equal rights milestone. Connecticut became the second state in the nation to grant marriage licenses to couples of the same gender beginning November 12, 2008.

Gov. Malloy Announces Release of $12.2 Million in Volkswagen Settlement Funds to Support Clean Air Projects in Connecticut
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the State of Connecticut is making available $12.2 million dollars from the legal settlement in the Volkswagen (VW) Corporation emissions cheating scandal to fund ten clean air projects in the state. Administered through the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP), Connecticut is one of the first states in the nation to make these funds available for a variety of diesel mitigation projects. The ten projects announced today are part of the first funding cycle under the distribution of the state’s VW settlement funding.

Gov. Malloy Statement on October Employment Report
Governor Dannel P. Malloy released the following statement regarding the October Labor Situation report, which shows an increase of 1,500 net jobs for the month. In total, private sector jobs are up 25,700 jobs over the year from October 2017 to October 2018. This represents the 99th consecutive month where monthly private sector job numbers exceeded the numbers in the same month in the previous year.
