Gov. Malloy: Additional Names Forwarded as Investigation into Emergency Federal Food Aid Program Continues
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the Department of Social Services and the Office of Labor Relations has notified several state agencies of an additional nine employees who are suspected of filing false and misleading applications under the D-SNAP program as the state continues its ongoing investigation. In addition, the 15 employees whose names were submitted to agencies last week have been given letters notifying them of the date for their individual administrative hearings.

Gov. Malloy: Jobs Report "Encouraging" Lowest Unemployment Rate Since April 2009
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today issued the following statement regarding the release of the Connecticut Department of Labor’s (CTDOL) monthly “Labor Situation” report for the month of January 2012. The report announced that Connecticut’s unemployment rate decreased for the sixth consecutive month to 8.0 percent, compared with the national rate of 8.3 percent, and is at its lowest level since April 2009.

Gov. Malloy: Access to Capital Allows Small Businesses to Think Big
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that four additional small businesses have qualified for grants through the state’s Small Business Express Program (EXP) to expand their businesses and create jobs. EXP was created as a part of the bi-partisan jobs bill that was passed during the October Special Session.

Gov. Malloy: Steady Improvements Aiding in State's Economic Recovery
Governor Dannel P. Malloy issued the following statement regarding today’s release of the Connecticut Department of Labor’s monthly “Labor Situation” report for the month of February 2012, which indicated that Connecticut’s unemployment rate decreased for the seventh consecutive month by two-tenths of a point to 7.8 percent, compared with the national rate of 8.3 percent. The monthly job gain in the private sector was 5,500 and is now up a solid 17,100 positions over the year.
