Gov. Malloy: Connecticut’s Aerospace and Shipbuilding Industry Receives Federal Designation to Accelerate Resurgence of Manufacturing Opportunities
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the State of Connecticut has successfully been designated by the Obama Administration under the Investing in Manufacturing Communities Partnership (IMCP) initiative. With this designation, Connecticut will receive coordinated support from eleven federal agencies with access to more than $1 billion in federal funding dedicated to economic development and the resurgence of manufacturing in the United States.

Gov. Malloy Applauds President Obama’s Efforts to See that ‘America is a Nation of Second Chances’
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today applauded an announcement by President Barack Obama that he is commuting the sentences of 46 men and women convicted of nonviolent drug offenses who received harsh sentences disproportionate to their crimes. President Obama noted that overly-harsh sentencing for nonviolent offenses foment a cycle of permanent punishment, making it even harder for those to re-enter society.

Gov. Malloy and Secretary Merrill Announce Launch of New State Regulations Website
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Secretary of the State Denise W. Merrill today announced that Connecticut's website of state regulations has re-launched in an improved format that dramatically increases public accessibility and transparency in the state's regulation process. Located at eregulations.ct.gov, the website allows users to easily search the state's regulations using common text searching or advanced Boolean searching, and also allows for search filtering to find information faster.

Gov. Malloy and Commissioner Ayala Announce Major Computer System Upgrades Coming to DMV
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Commissioner Andres Ayala, Jr., today announced that major customer service improvements, including the addition of new online services, will require DMV to close its offices - except for licensing services - from Tuesday, August 11 through Saturday, August 15, 2015. The department's offices will reopen for all transactions on Tuesday, August 18, 2015.

Gov. Malloy Unveils New Apprenticeship Program to Grow Jobs, Strengthen Workforce Skills and Boost State’s Manufacturing Industry
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the state is launching a new workforce development initiative through the Manufacturing Innovation Fund that supports a combination of on-the-job training and classroom instruction for apprentices in the manufacturing industry. The Manufacturing Innovation Fund Apprenticeship Program will provide wage subsidies and tuition reimbursements to eligible companies in order to increase the number of apprentices in Connecticut and ensure a talented, skilled workforce for the future.

Gov. Malloy: Synchrony Financial to Add Up to 400 New Jobs in Connecticut
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and executives from Synchrony Financial - a premier consumer financial services company headquartered in Stamford - today announced that the company is expanding its Connecticut operations with the creation of 200 to 400 new, full-time jobs in the state while retaining 310 jobs.

Gov. Malloy Statement on June Jobs Report
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today released the following statement in response to the release of the Connecticut Department of Labor's monthly "Labor Situation" report for June 2015. The report shows that 2,600 private sector jobs were added in the state last month, and the unemployment rate dropped three-tenths of a percentage point to 5.7 percent - its lowest point since July 2008.

Gov. Malloy: State Receives $8.2 Million Grant to Bolster Second Chance Society Efforts
Governor Malloy today announced that the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) has been awarded a $8,240,940 federal grant over five years that will support Connecticut's Second Chance Society initiatives by enhancing ongoing efforts to prevent alcohol and drug abuse.

Gov. Malloy Signs ‘Second Chance Society’ Bill to Further Reduce Crime and Successfully Re-Integrate Nonviolent Offenders into Society
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today joined lawmakers, state officials and advocates for a bill signing ceremony to commemorate the final passage into law of the "Second Chance Society" legislation the Governor introduced earlier this year. The package of initiatives is designed to continue the progress being made in reducing the state's dropping crime rate, which is at a 48-year low, as well as ensuring nonviolent offenders are successfully reintegrated into society and become productive workers in Connecticut's economy.

Gov. Malloy Signs Law Improving Processing of Evidence in Sexual Assault Cases
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman today joined sexual assault victim advocates and state officials to commemorate the passage into law of legislation that improves evidence collection and analysis in sexual assault cases by enhancing statewide protocols. The new law establishes deadlines for transferring and testing sexual assault evidence to the Connecticut Forensic Science Laboratory - the state's crime lab - in order to provide a better framework for handling these cases.

Gov. Malloy: Major Improvements in Downtown Meriden Will Encourage Economic and Transit-Oriented Development While Improving Quality of Life for Residents
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today joined state and local officials and private developers to break ground on the construction of a mixed-use residential and retail complex and parking garage on Colony Street in Meriden as part of a larger plan to establish a Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) district in connection with the city's new Intermodal Transit Center.
