Gov. Malloy: Connecticut Economy Outpacing the National Average
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today released the following statement in reaction to a U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis report on 2011 economic growth rates in the states, which indicated that Connecticut's economy grew faster than most states and outpaced the national average. The report stated that Connecticut had the ninth fastest economic growth rate in the country and the second fastest on the East Coast.

Gov. Malloy, Federal, State and Local Leaders Open Northbound I-95 "Q Bridge"
The northbound side of the new five-lane Pearl Harbor Memorial Bridge on I-95 in New Haven - informally known as the Q Bridge - will open this weekend following a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Governor Dannel P. Malloy, U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal, Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro and a host of federal, state and local officials.

Gov. Malloy: "Focused Deterrence" Needed to Reduce Urban Gun Violence
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he has directed state criminal justice resources - including state police, corrections, probation, parole and prosecutors - to collaborate with federal and local law enforcement officials in Bridgeport, Hartford and New Haven on implementing a program of "Focused Deterrence," designed to reduce gun violence within those three cities where shootings remain objectionably high.

Gov. Malloy Announces Award of $9.8 Million in Stem Cell Research Funding
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced the awards of $9.8 million in stem cell research funds to 19 Connecticut–based researchers. The awards were made by the State of Connecticut Stem Cell Research Advisory Committee at its grant review meeting week in Farmington.

Gov. Malloy Announces Initiative to Phase-in Property Revaluations
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced an initiative that will allow communities across the state to phase-in revaluations of property for a period of up to five years, even if the value of property decreases. Under current law, municipalities can only phase-in increases in assessments. This new initiative allows towns and cities to "responsibly administer revaluations in a way that blunts the negative impact to residents," said Governor Malloy.
