Gov. Malloy's Common Core Taskforce to Meet, Hear Presentations on Best Practices
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the Educators’ Common Core Implementation Taskforce is scheduled to meet on Wednesday, May 14, at Cromwell High School, 1 Donald Harris Drive in Cromwell. The meeting will run from 4:30-6:30 p.m. and will be held in library.

Gov. Malloy Signs Bills Establishing the Office of Early Childhood and Moving Connecticut toward Universal Pre-Kindergarten
Governor Dannel P. Malloy, joined by Commissioner of the Office of Early Childhood, Myra Jones-Taylor, State Department of Education Commissioner Stefan Pryor, state legislators and local officials, this afternoon signed two bills at the Helen Street School in Hamden that will expand pre-kindergarten for the state’s three and four-year-olds, add dyslexia as a primary specific learning disability for children requiring special education, and formally establish the Office of Early Childhood.

Gov. Malloy, Legislative Leaders Announce Budget Agreement
Governor Dannel P. Malloy, Lieutenant Governor Nancy Wyman, President Pro Tem Donald E. Williams Jr., Speaker of the House Brendan Sharkey, House Majority Leader Joe Aresimowicz, and Democratic leaders of the General Assembly today announced a budget agreement that continues to fund top priorities such as universal access to pre-kindergarten, making college more affordable, continuing to make year over year increases in local public education funding, and the Earned Income Tax Credit.

Gov. Malloy: Reclaiming Brownfields is Key to Improving the Environment and Creating Jobs
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) is accepting applications for a new round of funding of up to $20 million that will be awarded to help remediate and redevelop brownfield sites throughout the state.

Gov. Malloy: Funds for the Repair of Lebanon's Savin Lake Dam Expected to be Approved by Bond Commission

Gov. Malloy, DMV Commissioner Announce New Appointment Centers and Upgrades as Part of Agency Modernization Efforts

Malloy today announced that the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is now accepting appointments for learner's permit tests in the Old Saybrook office as part of the department's major computer upgrade so that businesses and customers can do more transactions online without coming into a DMV office.

Gov. Malloy Directs Flags to Half-Staff Monday in Observation of Memorial Day
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he is directing U.S. and state flags to fly half-staff on Monday, May 26, 2014 in observation of Memorial Day. In accordance with the U.S. flag code, flags should remain lowered on that day from sunrise until noon.
