Wednesday: Gov. Malloy Holds Ceremonial Signing for Conn. Airport Authority Bill, Continues Jobs Tour
On Wednesday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will continue his jobs tour with a visit to Bradley International Airport where he will be joined by legislators, state officials and business leaders for a ceremonial bill signing of legislation establishing the Connecticut Airport Authority (Public Act 11-84). The Authority will be assigned with developing, improving, and operating Bradley International Airport and the state’s five other general aviation airports. It will serve as an economic driver in Connecticut, making the state’s airports more attractive to new routes, new commerce, and new companies who may be considering making Connecticut their home.

Wednesday: Gov. Malloy Visits Space-Craft Manufacturing, Inc., Whelen Engineering Co., Speaks at Teach for America Event
On Wednesday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will visit Space-Craft Manufacturing, Inc. in New Haven for an opportunity to speak with the company’s management team and to tour the facility. Based in New Haven, company provides a range of precision-machined parts for the aerospace industry.

All state employees, including non-essential state employees, are expected to report to work as scheduled on Monday, October 31, unless their worksite is closed.

Dept. of Emergency Services & Public Protection Release: Commissioner Bradford and Secretary Barnes Announce Layoff Notices Rescinded for 56 State Troopers
Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection Commissioner Reuben Bradford and Office of Policy and Management Secretary Ben Barnes today announced that the layoff notices for 56 State Troopers who were laid off beginning on August 24 have been rescinded. Since the state employee unions ratified the second SEBAC agreement, 40 sworn personnel of various ranks have chosen to retire.

Dept. of Emergency Services & Public Protection Release: Disaster Recovery Center and Disaster Loan Outreach Center Closings Start Thursday, October 6th
Federal and state officials today announced the closing of the Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) at Housatonic Community College in Bridgeport and six Disaster Loan Outreach Centers (DLOCs) operated by the U.S. Small Business Administration in North Haven, Farmington, Groton, Torrington, Orange and Guilford on Thursday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m.

Friday: Gov. Malloy Keynotes Stamford Chamber Event, Attends Opening of Columbia Elevator, Visits Witherell Nursing Home in Greenwich
On Friday afternoon, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will give the keynote address at the Stamford Chamber of Commerce 24th Annual Meeting, where he will speak about his efforts to reinvent Connecticut and jumpstart the state’s economy to create new jobs for the 21st century.

Gov. Malloy Announces First Payments of Elderly Renters Rebate Program Released
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the first checks under the Elderly Renters Rebate Program are being released Friday. The checks, totaling $21.7 million are being mailed to 42,332 elderly renters to help offset a portion of their rent and utility expenses. Other eligible persons will receive checks over the next several weeks.

Gov. Malloy: East Haven Disaster Loan Outreach Center to Remain Open until October 27
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the Disaster Loan Outreach Center in East Haven, which had previously been scheduled to close tomorrow, will now remain open through October 27 to continue assisting residents in the area impacted by Tropical Storm Irene.

Gov. Malloy, Legislative Leaders Laud Bipartisan Jobs Package
Governor Dannel P. Malloy hailed the passage of bipartisan legislation aimed at reinventing Connecticut by creating new jobs, spurring innovation and strengthening the state’s overall competitiveness. The package that was voted on today was the direct result of input from Governor Malloy and Senate President Donald Williams, House Speaker Chris Donovan, Senate Minority Leader John McKinney and House Minority Leader Larry Cafero on behalf of their respective caucuses.

Gov. Malloy Reminds Residents of Next Week-s Approaching FEMA Deadline
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today is reminding Connecticut residents and businesses who suffered damage or losses during Tropical Storm Irene that they have little more than one week remaining to register with FEMA. Applicants must register by Thursday, November 3 to begin the disaster assistance process.

Gov. Malloy: State Emergency Operations Center to Open Saturday at 2 P.M.
In advance of possible power outages due to the forecast heavy, wet snow, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will open the Emergency Operations Center at the Hartford Armory on Saturday, October 29 at 2 p.m.
