Gov. Malloy: New Federal Storm Sandy Aid Will Help Protect Coastal Communities and Residents
Roughly a year after Storm Sandy hit Connecticut’s coastline, Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that federal funding has been obtained to better protect communities along Long Island Sound by restoring natural features – such as marshes, wetlands, beaches, and the flow of rivers – that can help reduce damage from severe storms in the future.

Gov. Malloy: Pitney Bowes to Remain in Stamford, Expand Presence in Connecticut, and Create 200 New Jobs
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that Pitney Bowes (NYSE: PBI) is recommitting its presence in the State of Connecticut, where it was founded more than 90 years ago. Pitney Bowes plans to add an additional 200 new jobs to its existing workforce of 1,600 employees in the state, under an expansion plan that will see the company investing $25 million in facility improvements, training and technology into Connecticut’s economy.

Gov. Malloy: State Opens Two Additional Sandy Relief Centers in Middlesex and New London Counties

Malloy today announced that in addition to the four previously opened intake centers located in Fairfield and New London Counties that are assisting homeowners with disaster assistance for losses caused by Superstorm Sandy, the state Department of Housing (DOH) will open two new centers serving New London and Middlesex Counties on Wednesday, November 20.

Gov. Malloy: FSC CT, Inc. Relocated Financial Firm to Greenwich
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced $5 million in loans and grants to FSC CT, Inc. to relocate Fifth Street’s operations to Greenwich. The company, through its Fifth Street affiliates, will bring approximately 50 jobs from its present location in White Plains, New York, and plans to add at least 46 more jobs as it grows over the coming decade.

Malloy and Secretary of the State Denise Merrill today are reminding all eligible Connecticut voters (any U.S. citizen residing in the state age 18 or older) not yet registered to vote that Election Day Registration takes effect for the first time for the municipal elections on Tuesday, November 5, 2013.

Gov. Malloy Names Two to Serve on Crime Victim Privacy Panel

Malloy today announced that he has appointed Officer Jillian Knox of New Haven and Andrew Woods of Hartford to serve on a new task force that will be responsible for reviewing and making recommendations regarding the balance between the privacy of crime victims and the public's right to obtain certain documents related to crimes.

Gov. Malloy: Norwalk's Akademos Will Expand, Create Jobs
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced $400,000 in grants and loans to Norwalk-based Akademos, Inc. The funding, through the Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD), will help the online book seller expand its operations and hire seven additional employees.
