Gov. Malloy Announces $6.9 Million in Funding to Remediate and Revitalize Brownfields in 14 Towns Across Connecticut
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that $6.9 million in state grants will be awarded to 14 towns and cities to assess, remediate, and revitalize brownfields across the state. The projects comprise 424 acres of redevelopment as part of the administration’s ongoing, unprecedented efforts to restore and put blighted properties back into productive use.

Gov. Malloy Announces Dramatic Increase in Unused Prescription Drugs Collected at Drop Boxes During 2016
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the State of Connecticut saw a dramatic increase in the amount of unused prescription medications that residents dropped off at collection boxes during 2016, with the state collecting a total of 33,803 pounds worth of various medications throughout the year. That amounts to a 43 percent increase compared to the amount that residents dropped off in 2015, when 23,651 pounds of unused drugs were collected by the state.

Gov. Malloy & Lt. Gov. Wyman Statements on U.S. Senate Vote to Repeal Federal Rule Preventing People with Mental Health Illnesses from Purchasing Guns
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman released the following statements regarding a vote in the U.S. Senate today to repeal a federal regulation adopted by the Obama Administration in the aftermath of the 2012 tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School that prevents people with severe mental health illnesses from purchasing firearms. The legislation repealing the regulation passed the Senate by a vote of 57-43 and was approved in the House earlier this month by a vote of 235-185. It now goes to the White House for the president’s signature.

Gov. Malloy Proposes Creating State Loan Program to Support Northeastern Connecticut Homeowners Confronting Crumbling Foundations
Governor Dannel P. Malloy has submitted a legislative proposal to the Connecticut General Assembly aimed at helping homeowners in northeastern Connecticut who are facing ongoing problems due to the deterioration of the concrete foundations of their homes by creating a state program that will assist those who would otherwise have difficulty getting a loan to repair their properties.

Gov. Malloy Proclaims Sunday as Japanese-Americans Day of Remembrance
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he has signed a proclamation designating Sunday, February 19, 2017 as Japanese-Americans Day of Remembrance in the State of Connecticut. The recognition honors the victims of Japanese internment camps, which were created exactly 75 years ago this Sunday and resulted in the forcible removal and incarceration of over 120,000 Americans of Japanese ancestry living in the western coast of the United States during World War II.

Malloy Administration Issues Guidance to Law Enforcement and School Districts Regarding Immigration Matters
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and the commissioners of the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection, the Department of Correction, and the State Department of Education today announced that – in response to increasing concerns regarding the impact that a recent presidential executive order on immigration matters and corresponding implementation memos from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security will have on the operations of local law enforcement and school districts – they are sending recommendations to every school superintendent and police chief in the state outlining suggested protocols to help these jurisdictions inform local decision making and communication efforts with families in their respective communities.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced Small Town Economic Assistance Program (STEAP) grants to ten Connecticut towns engaged in capital improvement projects.
