• 3/22/2011 Obama Administration, Governor Malloy Announce Funds to Spur at Least $133 Million in New Lending to Connecticut Small Businesses, Help Create Jobs

  Today, the U.S. Department of the Treasury and Governor Dannel P. Malloy announced the approval of Connecticut's State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI) application. Connecticut's planned use of the SSBCI funds will help create new jobs and is expected to spur more than $133 million in additional small business lending in that state.

  On Monday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will introduce incoming University of Connecticut President Susan Herbst at a Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce member breakfast in Cromwell. On Monday evening, Governor Malloy will hold a town hall meeting in Hartford, the eighth stop in his statewide series of 17 town hall meetings to discuss the state’s pressing economic and budgetary issues face-to-face with state residents.

• 3/7/2011 Tuesday: Governor Malloy Speaks at Commencement for New Class of Correction Officers, Holds Town Hall Meeting in Waterbury

  On Tuesday afternoon, Governor Malloy will speak to graduates at the Department of Correction Pre-Service Graduation Ceremony for Training Class #248 in Cheshire. The ceremony marks the completion of a 10-week training academy for the class, which is made up of over 80 correction officers.

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he has appointed Dan DeSimone to be the director of Connecticut’s state office in Washington D.C. DeSimone will work with Connecticut’s Congressional Delegation and coordinate Connecticut’s federal legislative and policy work on behalf of Governor Malloy.

• 3/4/2011 Gov. Malloy Announces Federal Aid in Wake of Major Disaster Declaration by White House

  President Barack Obama has approved Governor Dannel P. Malloy's February 18 request for a major disaster declaration for federal aid in connection with the January 12 snowstorm. This declaration includes Fairfield, Hartford, Litchfield, New Haven, New London and Tolland Counties, including the Mohegan and Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nations.

• 3/31/2011 Friday: Governor Malloy Speaks at Opening Ceremony of Robotics Competition in Hartford

  On Friday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will speak at the opening ceremony of the Northeast Utilities FIRST Connecticut Regional Robotics Competition in Hartford. The event, featuring 58 teams of students, teachers and mentors, has been held for the past seventeen years in Hartford, allowing students to work with professional engineers and develop science, technology, engineering and math skills that will apply in a work environment.

• 3/17/2011 Friday: Governor Malloy Administers Oath of Office to DEP Commissioner, Takes Business Tour of Thomas Hooker Brewing Company in Bloomfield

  On Friday morning, Governor Malloy will administer the oath of office to Daniel Esty, the new Commissioner of the Department of Environmental Protection. On Friday afternoon, Governor Malloy will take a business tour of the Thomas Hooker Brewing Company in Bloomfield. The tour of the company’s facility will give the Governor an opportunity to meet with the management team and staff at the small business, whose products are named after one of the founders of Connecticut and have gained a national reputation.

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced his nomination of Judge Carmen Espinosa for Connecticut’s Appellate Court. Judge Espinosa will take the place of Judge Lubbie Harper once his nomination to the Supreme Court is confirmed.

• 3/1/2011 Gov. Malloy Announces First Set of M-8 Cars Operating on New Haven Line

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Metro-North today announced that the first set of eight new M-8 rail cars were put into service today from Stamford, offering Metro-North customers the latest in rail technology and comfort. The train left Stamford at 10:30 a.m. and arrived at Grand Central Terminal in New York at 11:36 a.m.

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he has appointed James P. Redeker as Acting Commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Transportation (DOT), to serve until a permanent commissioner is nominated.

  On Friday morning, Governor Malloy will speak to students at the opening session of the True Colors XVII Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Youth Conference at the University of Connecticut in Storrs.

• 8/23/2011 Gov. Malloy on Effects of Earthquake Felt in Connecticut

  “The movement people in Connecticut felt was associated with the earthquake which originated in Virginia. Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection staff is at the Emergency Operations Center as a precaution, but at this point, there have been no reports of injury or damage.”
