Gov. Malloy Releases Action Plan for Creating a Unified Disaster Response
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today released the action plan composed by William Hackett, State Emergency Management Director at the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection (DESPP), who was asked to lay out a roadmap for determining how the State can update and improve its “Master Plan” to create a more unified response for state and local governments and utility companies during a disaster.

Gov. Malloy Unveils Pension Proposal That Will Save Taxpayers Nearly $6 Billion Over Twenty Years
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced a change to the pension funding plan that will avoid a spike in the state’s obligation in Fiscal Year (FY) 2032, avoiding a potential fiscal crisis. Under the current contribution plan, the state would have to make a one-time payment of $4.5 billion in FY2032 in order to reach full funding. The restructuring will save the state nearly $6 billion over the next 20 years, and put the pension system on the road to long-term sustainability, something that is currently not the case.

Gov. Malloy Welcomes Two Storm Panel Report
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today said that recommendations included in the final report of the working group he created to review the preparedness, response and recovery efforts of Tropical Storm Irene and the October Nor’easter will help the administration shape the package of initiatives and legislation it plans to announce in the coming days. The legislation will be introduced during the upcoming legislative session, which begins in February.

Gov. Malloy: Updating "Blue Laws" Will Make Connecticut More Competitive and Benefit Consumers
In order to help Connecticut stay competitive with neighboring states and give consumers a break, Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced he intends to introduce legislation in the upcoming session to update state laws – some of which date back to Prohibition – regulating the sale of alcohol. The package's most recognizable proposal would allow the sale of alcohol on Sundays, certain holidays, and on Mondays that come after Sunday holidays. Other provisions, which Governor Malloy said are "consumer-friendly," would eliminate minimum pricing to lower costs for consumers.
