• 1/3/2014 State Secures Judgment against New Haven Companies and Operator for Hazardous Waste, Air Pollution Violations

  Three New Haven companies and their operator must pay nearly $750,000 in civil penalties under a recent court order for violating the state’s hazardous waste and air pollution control laws and regulations, Attorney General George Jepsen and state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Commissioner Daniel C. Esty said today.

• 7/1/2014 State Releases Report on Charitable Response to Tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy, Attorney General George Jepsen and state Department of Consumer Protection Commissioner William M. Rubenstein today released a report on the overwhelming charitable response that evaluates information provided voluntarily by organizations engaged in fundraising related to the tragedy, provides a quantitative analysis of survey responses and identifies ways that state regulators and the nonprofit community can partner and collaborate to provide transparency, bolster donor confidence, consolidate resources and increase coordination.

• 12/19/2014 State Joins National Settlement with T-Mobile Over Data Cramming Allegations

  Attorney General George Jepsen and state Department of Consumer Protection (DCP) Commissioner William M. Rubenstein announced today that Connecticut, along with 49 other states and the District of Columbia, has reached a settlement with mobile telephone company T-Mobile USA to resolve allegations that the company improperly engaged in "data cramming."

• 9/25/2014 State Joins National Settlement with Shire Pharmaceuticals

  Attorney General George Jepsen, Chief State’s Attorney Kevin T. Kane and state Department of Social Services (DSS) Commissioner Roderick L. Bremby announced today that Connecticut has joined a federal-state settlement with Shire Pharmaceuticals, LLC to resolve allegations that the company inappropriately marketed Adderall XR, Vyvanse, Daytrona, Lialda and Pentasa for conditions not approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

• 12/11/2014 State Joins Multistate Settlement with PointRoll to Resolve Internet Privacy Allegations

  Attorney General George Jepsen and state Department of Consumer Protection Commissioner William M. Rubenstein today announced that Connecticut has joined a $750,000 multistate settlement with digital advertising company PointRoll, Inc. that resolves an investigation into whether the company violated consumers' privacy by unlawfully circumventing the privacy settings in Apple Inc.'s Safari Web browser.

• 8/21/2014 State Granted Court-appointed Receiver for Amistad America, Inc.

  – The Superior Court for the Judicial District of Hartford has approved an application filed by the Attorney General seeking appointment of a receiver over the operations and assets of Amistad America, Inc., Governor Dannel P. Malloy, Attorney General George Jepsen and state Department of Economic & Community Development (DECD) Commissioner Catherine Smith announced today.

• 6/18/2014 State Brings Criminal Charges and Civil Claims Action against Stamford-based Dental Provider Alleging Medicaid Fraud

  In a coordinated law enforcement effort, the state has commenced both criminal and civil proceedings against a Stamford-based dental practitioner and related individuals and businesses alleging a long-running and substantial scheme of fraudulent Medicaid claims for dental services provided to residents of long-term care facilities in the state, Attorney General George Jepsen, Chief State's Attorney Kevin T. Kane and Department of Social Services Commissioner Roderick L. Bremby announced today.

• 1/7/2014 Settlement Will Provide for Consumer Restitution in Deceptive Practices Suit over Weight-loss Product Marketing, Sales

  The state of Connecticut and the Federal Trade Commission have entered into a settlement with three Branford-based companies and their owner that will provide restitution to consumers harmed by the companies’ alleged deceptive and unfair Internet marketing and sales practices, Attorney General George Jepsen and state Department of Consumer Protection Commissioner William M. Rubenstein said today.

• 5/22/2014 Settlement Will Provide $4.5M to PURA for Electric Supplier Enforcement, Consumer Education

  The state Public Utilities Regulatory Authority will receive $4.5 million for consumer assistance and education and enforcement activity related to third-party electric suppliers under a settlement agreement with electric supplier Energy Plus Holdings, LLC, Attorney General George Jepsen and Consumer Counsel Elin Swanson Katz said today.
