Attorney General William Tong today joined a coalition of 21 attorneys general led by Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul urging Congress to pass the Black Maternal Health Momnibus Act of 2021. The legislation is aimed at combatting the high Black maternal mortality rate and increasing access to maternal and perinatal care.

Attorney General William Tong and Interim Consumer Counsel Claire E. Coleman issued the following statements after the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority recommended a $1.8 million civil penalty over Eversource’s marketing tactics. Attorney General Tong and the Office of Consumer Counsel had filed a petition with PURA seeking an investigation following media reports that Eversource was using high pressure tactics to entice consumers to convert to natural gas.
