Gov. Malloy: Connecticut Awarded Federal Planning Grant to Study How to Strengthen State’s Aerospace and Defense Manufacturing Workforce
Governor Dannel P. Malloy announced today that the state Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) and the Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology, Inc. (CCAT), which have partnered on a Regional Aerospace and Defense Exchange (RADE) initiative to study the impact of defense contract reductions to Connecticut and New England, will receive a $1.25 million U.S. Department of Defense Office of Economic Adjustment (DoD OEA) grant for the joint effort.

Gov. Malloy Announces Funding to Increase Open Space Land in East Lyme
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today joined State Senator Andrea Stillman (D-Waterford), State Representative Ed Jutila (D-East Lyme, Salem) and State Representative Betsy Ritter (D-Waterford, Montville) to announce that a $200,000 state grant to purchase 41 acres of property for use as open space land as part of the Oswegatchie Hills Nature Preserve in East Lyme is scheduled to be approved at Thursday’s meeting of the State Bond Commission.

Gov. Malloy Announces Funds for Rochford Field Remediation in Hamden
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today joined Speaker of the House Brendan Sharkey (D-Hamden), Senate Majority Leader Martin Looney (D-New Haven, Hamden), State Senator Joseph J. Crisco, Jr. (D-Woodbridge) and State Representative Mike D’Agostino (D-Hamden) to announce that a grant of $4 million for the remediation of Rochford Field in Hamden is scheduled to be approved at Thursday’s meeting of the State Bond Commission.

Gov. Malloy: Committee Must Review Decision on Disaster Mitigation Funding
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today sent a letter to state Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection (DESPP) directing the agency to reconvene the Connecticut Interagency Hazard Mitigation Committee to reassess its decision on the allocation of federal funding after requesting additional information on the immediate needs of homeowners attempting to re-occupy their homes following Super Storm Sandy and finding alternative funding sources for the mitigation efforts.

Gov. Malloy: Agreement Will Invest in Our Children and Those Who Care for Them

Gov. Malloy: Federal Assistance Approved for Residents and Businesses Impacted by Shelton Fire

Malloy today announced the approval of his request for a Small Business Administration (SBA) disaster declaration to mitigate the impact of the fire in Shelton that destroyed personal property and businesses on January 6, 2014. Residents and business owners affected by the fire can now apply for low-interest SBA disaster loans.
