Gov. Malloy: Severe Cold Weather to Impact the State
With bitter cold temperatures expected to impact the state over the next week, Governor Dannel P. Malloy has activated the state’s Severe Cold Weather Protocol, directing the Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security (DEMHS), the Department of Social Services (DSS), the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS), and the Department of Housing (DOH) to coordinate with 2-1-1 and Connecticut’s network of shelters to ensure that the state’s most vulnerable people are protected from the severe cold weather.

Gov. Malloy: Company Expansions in Wethersfield and Sprague Will Create and Retain 274 Jobs in Five Years
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced $5 million in loans to support the expansion of three Connecticut small businesses. The funding will help businesses in Wethersfield and Sprague expand operations, retain 156 jobs, and create 118 new jobs.

Gov. Malloy Guarantees Connecticut Victory in NCAA Hockey Championship Game
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today congratulated both the Quinnipiac Bobcats and the Yale Bulldogs hockey teams on their respective Frozen Four victories last night and for advancing to what has become an all-Connecticut national championship game. Saturday night will mark the first time that two teams from the same state played each other in the NCAA hockey championship since 1978.

Cancer Research Coalition Announced in Connecticut
Scientists from The Jackson Laboratory will partner with cancer specialists at Hartford Hospital and Connecticut Children’s Medical Center to explore new approaches to cancer treatment for adults and children. Gov. Malloy: $10 Million Awarded to Clean Up Brownfield Sites
Governor Dannel P. Malloy, joined by Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) Commissioner Catherine Smith, today announced that DECD awarded $10,507,339 in loans and grants to remediate nine brownfields located throughout the state. Clinton, Hartford, Middletown, New Haven, Vernon, Waterbury, and Watertown will use the funding to clean up the polluted properties and redevelop the sites for affordable housing and mixed use development.
