Gov. Malloy Directs State to "Aggressively Pursue" Florida Rail Money
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today instructed the state Department of Transportation to “aggressively pursue” rail money originally intended for Florida’s high speed rail project. Florida Governor Rick Scott declined the $2.4 billion, and the U.S. Department of Transportation opened up applications for the funds today.

Gov. Malloy Orders Flags Returned to Full Staff at Sunset
Governor Dannel P. Malloy ordered that the Connecticut and U.S. flags be returned to full staff at sunset today. The flags were lowered on March 14, 2011 in honor of Sergeant First Class Dae Han Park, an Army Special Forces soldier who was killed in action in Wardak Province, Afghanistan when his vehicle was hit by an IED.

Gov. Malloy Reappoints Corrections Commissioner Leo Arnone
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he has reappointed Department of Corrections Commissioner Leo Arnone of Somers. Arnone is a 22-year veteran of the Connecticut Department of Corrections. He also worked for 12 years in the state Judicial Branch, and for 3 years at the Department of Children and Families. Arnone is currently the interim commissioner at DOC, originally appointed by Governor M. Jodi Rell.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy announced the re-appointment of Peter Boynton as the Commissioner of the Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security (DEMHS), the department responsible for disaster response, coordinating planning, equipment, communications, training and counter-terrorism efforts in the state.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy today is urging Connecticut residents seeking to re-establish contact with family members and friends in Japan to utilize a special Family Links website set up by the International Committee of the Red Cross to help reunite loved ones in the wake of a magnitude-8.9 earthquake.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy today ordered the Connecticut and U.S. flags to fly at half staff in honor of Connecticut resident Staff Sergeant Frank E. Adamski III, who was killed in action in Afghanistan on Tuesday.

Governor Malloy Appoints Erika Tindill as Chair of the Board of Pardons and Paroles
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced he has named Erika M. Tindill of New Haven to serve as Chair of the state Board of Pardons and Paroles. Currently, Tindill is the Executive Director of the Connecticut Coalition Against Domestic Violence, a position she’s held since 2009.

On the one year anniversary of President Obama signing national health reform legislation into law, Governor Dannel P. Malloy highlighted what Connecticut has already been able to accomplish.
