Gov. Malloy: Bond Commission Agenda Will Include $2.5 Million for Remediation of Land Next to Kaman Aerospace in Bloomfield
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that next week’s Bond Commission Agenda will include $2.5 million for the remediation of an 85-acre site adjacent to Kaman Aerospace Corp. in Bloomfield that was acquired from the U.S. Navy.

Updates to Governor Malloy's Scheduled Town Hall Meetings in Bristol, Meriden and Middletown
Hoping to accommodate the anticipated number of attendees, the host communities of Bristol, Meriden and Middletown have moved the locations of Governor Dannel P. Malloy’s upcoming town hall meetings to new venues. While the previously announced dates for Bristol and Meriden will remain the same, the date for Middletown has been moved to April 12.

Gov. Malloy Announces $40 Million for High Speed Rail Funds Released to Connecticut
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that $40 million in previously allocated stimulus funding was released today to Connecticut. Governor Malloy spoke at length with U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood about this when they met last month.

Flags to Fly at Half-Staff in Remembrance of World War I Veteran Corporal Frank W. Buckles
As a mark of respect for the last surviving veteran of World War I, President Barack Obama has ordered the U.S. flags to fly at half-staff for Army Corporal Frank W. Buckles today, the day of his interment. Corporal Buckles died at 110 years old on February 22, 2011, and will be buried today in Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors.

On Tuesday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will give the introductory remarks at StemCONN 2011 in Farmington. The event, hosted by Connecticut United for Research Excellence, brings the northeast U.S. stem cell research community to Connecticut for a full-day scientific symposium highlighting the most recent discoveries in stem cell research.

Wednesday: Governor Malloy Takes Business Tour of FuelCell Energy in Torrington, Attends No Kid Hungry Campaign Launch in Middletown, Holds Town Hall in New Haven
On Wednesday afternoon, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will take a business tour of the FuelCell Energy manufacturing facility in Torrington. The tour of the company’s facility will give the Governor an opportunity to meet with the management team and staff at the Connecticut-based business, which manufactures Ultra-Clean stationary fuel cell power plants that generate electricity with up to twice the efficiency of conventional fossil fuel plants and virtually no air pollution.

Gov. Malloy- New Partnership Between CRCOG, DAS for Reverse Bidding
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced an agreement between the Capitol Region Council of Governments (CRCOG) and the Department of Administrative Services (DAS) to conduct online reverse auctions for the purchase of commodities. This agreement will not only achieve significant savings but will also generate new revenue for the state.

Gov. Malloy Invites Foreign Navies to OpSail 2012
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today sent letters to the Chiefs of Naval Operations of 27 countries inviting them to Operation Sail (OpSail) 2012 in Connecticut. Efforts by the Office of Military Affairs ensured that New London was added to the list of ports for OpSail 2012 and the Navy’s commemoration of the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812. Over 900,000 people visited the coastline city during OpSail 2000 and planning has begun to host even larger crowds in 2012.

Gov. Malloy Names Christopher "Kip" Bergstrom as Executive Director of Commission on Culture and Tourism
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today named Christopher “Kip” Bergstrom as the Executive Director of the Commission on Culture and Tourism. Upon the consolidation of this function into the Department of Economic and Community Development, Bergstrom would assume additional responsibilities as part of DECD Commissioner Catherine Smith’s team.
