Gov. Malloy Announces Magnetic Technologies to Relocate to Connecticut from Massachusetts
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that Magnetic Technologies Ltd., an advanced manufacturer of high-quality, magnetic brakes for the wire and cable industry, is relocating to Putnam, Connecticut, where the company will build its new headquarters. The $5.26 million project will create 40 jobs over the next five years.

Gov. Malloy Signs Order Establishing the Whiting Forensic Hospital to Focus More Directly on Increased Quality of Care
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he has signed an executive order that separates the Whiting Forensic Division from Connecticut Valley Hospital and creates a distinct hospital, Whiting Forensic Hospital, under a new structure that will allow the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) to focus more directly on the changes needed to continue to improve the quality of care at the facility.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy this afternoon announced that he will activate the state’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) beginning at 6:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 4, 2018, in order to monitor storm conditions across the state and quickly coordinate any support that may be necessary.

Gov. Malloy and Treasurer Nappier Announce State Finalizes Payment on $1.09 Billion in Debt from Economic Recovery Notes Issued by Prior Administration
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and State Treasurer Denise L. Nappier today announced that the State of Connecticut has fully paid the outstanding liability related to the Economic Recovery Notes that were originally issued during the administration of Governor M. Jodi Rell in 2009. At that time, the state borrowed money to cover its operating expenses when it closed the fiscal year with a deficit of more than $900 million and a depleted rainy day fund.

Gov. Malloy Appoints Vicki Veltri to Lead State’s Office of Health Strategy
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he is appointing Victoria Veltri of Colchester to serve as Executive Director of the state’s Office of Health Strategy, a new state office created through the consolidation of several existing resources as part of the bipartisan state budget that was adopted in October. The office, which begins operations on February 1, will be responsible for implementing data-driven strategies that promote equal access to healthcare, improve the value of healthcare, contain costs, and ensure better healthcare systems for Connecticut residents.

Gov. Malloy, CTDOT Indefinitely Postpone Hundreds of Transportation Projects Across Connecticut
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) Commissioner James P. Redeker today released a full list of projects totaling $4.3 billion that are postponed indefinitely until new revenue is appropriated for the Special Transportation Fund (STF). The Governor made clear that his administration will announce detailed proposals this month that, if adopted by the General Assembly, would bring the projects back online.

Gov. Malloy: State and Community Organizations Seek Volunteers for Annual Homelessness Census
Governor Dannel P. Malloy, Department of Housing Commissioner Evonne M. Klein, and Connecticut Coalition to End Homelessness (CCEH) Executive Director Lisa Tepper Bates are encouraging Connecticut residents to volunteer for the annual point-in-time and youth count of homeless individuals in the state starting next week. The annual counts are held every January and help provide critical data necessary evaluate the state’s progress when it comes to preventing and ending homelessness.

Malloy and the Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) Commissioner Catherine Smith today announced the results of the Manufacturing Innovation Fund (MIF) annual report. As of June 2017, the MIF has assisted nearly 900 companies and invested over $43.7 million to help accelerate growth, cultivate talent and boost investments in innovation.
