Gov. Malloy Encourages School Districts to Take Advantage of Connected Learning Initiatives
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today encouraged school districts to take advantage of the Connecting Connecticut Classrooms (C3 Initiative) program, a partnership among his office, the Connecticut Commission for Educational Technology (CET), and EducationSuperHighway, a national nonprofit focused on upgrading internet access in every public school classroom in America. The program provides free consulting, training, and technical support to Connecticut districts, enabling them to take full advantage of federal funds to build state-of-the-art networks that leverage today's educational technology resources.

Gov. Malloy Announces $10 Million to Enhance Security at 182 Schools Across Connecticut in Most Recent Round of School Security Grants
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the State of Connecticut has approved an additional round grants totaling $10 million that will be used to enhance security infrastructure at 182 public and private schools in 51 towns and cities across the state. The funds were approved under the School Security Grant Program that was created in 2013 as part of a broad legislative package signed into law by the Governor focusing on gun violence prevention, mental health, and school security issues.

Connecticut Governor Dannel P. Malloy, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, New York Governor Andrew M. Cuomo, and Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo today announced that Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker, Delaware Governor John Carney, and Puerto Rico Governor Ricardo Rosselló are joining the “States for Gun Safety” coalition – a multi-state partnership launched this month to combat the gun violence epidemic. With the addition of these new members, the coalition of states now represents over 35 million Americans and will take action to stop gun-related violence in the face of continued federal inaction.

Gov. Malloy Urges DHS Secretary to Stay Deportation of Farmington Family
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today released a letter sent to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen requesting that her agency stay the planned deportation of Zhe Long ‘Tony’ Huang and Xiang ‘Kris’ Li to China. The couple currently reside in Farmington, Connecticut with their two children, who are both American citizens.
