Governor Malloy to Roundtable Transportation Critical to State's Economic Engine
Governor Dannel P. Malloy joined Congressman John Larson, Co-Chair of the Northeast Rail Caucus, Pennsylvania Congressman Bill Shuster, Chair of the Subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines, and Hazardous Materials, and a group of legislators, state and federal officials and other stakeholders at Hartford’s Union Station to discuss efforts to build the New Haven-Springfield rail line and increase high speed rail access in New England.

Gov. Malloy Signs Declaration of Civil Preparedness Emergency All Non-Essential State Workers Should Not Report Until 12 P.M. at the Earliest
At 9:11 p.m. this evening, Governor Dannel P. Malloy signed a Declaration of Civil Preparedness Emergency, in advance of the impending snow storm which is expected to drop between 15 and 23 inches of snow across the state. In addition, Governor Malloy ordered all non-essential state employees to report to work no earlier than 12 p.m. on Wednesday.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy, together with Lieutenant Governor Nancy Wyman, will meet with commissioners across all state agencies on Tuesday afternoon. The meeting will allow commissioners new and old to meet one another, and give Governor Malloy the chance to speak about his expectations and goals for the group.

Gov. Malloy Announces Award of Nearly $10 Million in Stem Cell Research Funds
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced the award of $9.8 million in stem cell research funds to twenty Connecticut–based researchers. The awards were given by the State of Connecticut Stem Cell Research Advisory Committee at its Tuesday grant review meeting in Farmington.

Wednesday: Gov. Malloy Continues Jobs Tour, Visits Women’s Business Development Council and FactSet Research Systems
Continuing on his Jobs Tour, on Wednesday morning Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Department of Economic & Community Development Commissioner Catherine Smith will meet with members of the Women’s Business Development Council in Stamford for a roundtable discussion. The WBDC addresses the growing need for entrepreneurial training and services for women, offering programs throughout various areas of the state in business development/management, financial education and personal effectiveness. Representatives from over 30 companies and organizations are anticipated at the meeting.

Dept. of Energy & Environmental Protection Release: Forecast Extends Unhealthy Air Quality for Parts of CT for Sat., July 23
The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) has extended the Air Quality Alert due to elevated concentrations of ground-level ozone pollution across southern Connecticut for Saturday, July 23, 2011.

On Friday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will hold a media availability at the conclusion of the scheduled meeting of the State Bond Commission. Items included in the meeting’s agenda invest in the revitalization of Connecticut’s infrastructure, create or maintain hundreds of construction-related jobs, and enhance future economic growth in the state.
