Monday: Gov. Malloy Makes Second Chance Society Announcement in Hartford
On Monday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will make an announcement about a Second Chance Society initiative regarding youth crime prevention, as well as hold a roundtable discussion on the topic. He will be joined in the discussion by Hartford Mayor Pedro Segarra, state Department of Education Acting Commissioner Dr. Dianna Wentzell, Hartford Superintendent Dr. Beth Schiavino-Narvaez, state Child Advocate Sarah Eagan, and other state and local officials.

Wednesday: Gov. Malloy and Local Officials Commemorate Start of I-84 Widening Project in Waterbury
On Wednesday afternoon, Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Department of Transportation Commissioner James P. Redeker will hold a groundbreaking ceremony in Waterbury to commemorate the start of the widening of Interstate 84 in the city between the areas of Washington Street and Pierpont Road, creating a third lane in each direction. They will be joined at the event by Mayor Neil M. O'Leary and other local officials.

Gov. Malloy: Renewable Resources Establishing U.S. Headquarters in Connecticut
Governor Dannel P. Malloy announced today that Renewable Resources Inc, a Scottish solar development company, will open its United States headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut. The company plans to hire 50 employees by the end of this year, with the potential for future expansion.

On Friday at noon, Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa of Los Angeles, California, who also serves as President of the U.S. Conference of Mayors, will hold a media conference call urging the House-Senate conference to move forward without further delay on reaching agreement on the transportation reauthorization legislation.

Gov. Malloy & Congressional Delegation Announce $10M Federal Grant to Strengthen Transportation Infrastructure in Hartford
Governor Dannel P. Malloy, Senators Joseph I. Lieberman, Richard Blumenthal and Congressman John B. Larson (CT-01) today announced that the City of Hartford has been awarded a $10 million federal TIGER IV (Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery) Grant that will be used to tie transit to the Greater Hartford region's employment and housing centers in an effort to promote job creation and economic revitalization.

Gov. Malloy: $10 Million Investment in Connecticut Public Housing
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the state is investing $10 million in seven state-funded public housing developments and 561 public housing units. The funding is part of the Governor's overall 10-year $420 million commitment to expand and revitalize affordable housing across the state.

Gov. Malloy’s Prepared Remarks Today on Criminal Justice Reform
Governor Dannel P. Malloy presented some first-in-the-nation ideas regarding criminal justice today at a Connecticut Law Review symposium held at the UConn School of Law in Hartford. While Connecticut has become a national leader in its criminal justice efforts, the Governor introduced several ideas to deliver further progress, including raising the age of the juvenile justice system's jurisdiction through age 20 instead of age 17, as well as allowing low-risk young adults aged 21 through 25 to have their cases heard confidentially, their records sealed, and the opportunity to have those records expunged. He also discussed exploring bail bond reform.

Gov. Malloy Announces Alexion Pharmaceuticals to Expand in New Haven
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that leading biopharmaceutical company Alexion Pharmaceuticals, Inc. will establish its global headquarters at a new facility to be built in New Haven by 2015. The state will support the project through the First Five program, Governor Malloy's signature economic initiative that is creating jobs by spurring large-scale business development projects. The company will relocate its existing Connecticut workforce of more than 350 employees to the facility once it is complete and expects to create 200-300 new jobs in the state by 2017. In addition, hundreds of jobs in service industries are expected to be created as a result of Alexion's move to New Haven.

Gov. Malloy Announces New State Program to Promote Business Growth in Town Commercial Centers
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the State of Connecticut has launched a new program that will help municipalities attract small businesses, promote commercial activity and increase local job numbers by providing grants for infrastructure renovations and improvements to town commercial centers.
