Malloy will hold a bill signing ceremony at the UConn Health Center in Farmington to commemorate final approval of the Bioscience Innovation Act – a legislative initiative the Governor proposed in January and was approved last month by the General Assembly that makes a $200 million investment over ten years to support the state’s growing bioscience sector, attract additional private investments, and grow high-quality jobs.

• 7/25/2013 Gov. Malloy Announces PLANT Grant Application Review Underway

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy announced today that the Connecticut Department of Agriculture, in conjunction with the Department of Economic and Community Development, has been diligently reviewing requests for the recently announced PLANT (Production Loss Assistance Needed Today) Grants since the July 15, 2013 application deadline. The state Bond Commission is scheduled to vote Friday on $5 million in funding for the grants, which will provide special assistance to Connecticut farms suffering damage from this year's severe weather.

• 7/22/2013 Gov. Malloy Announces $10 Million Technology Grant for Schools

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy, together with State Department of Education Commissioner Stefan Pryor, today announced the release of a $10 million competitive technology grant for Connecticut school districts to bring more computers into classrooms and to increase Internet bandwidth capacity. This grant will provide critical assistance to local districts as they prepare for the statewide rollout during the 2014-15 school year of Common Core State Standards and the computer-based Smarter Balanced Assessments.

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy, joined by German Consul General to the U.S. Rolf Schütte, Fraunhofer USA Inc. President Georg Rosenfeld, UConn President Susan Herbst, and Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Commissioner Daniel C. Esty, today announced a partnership between Connecticut and Fraunhofer USA that will establish the Fraunhofer Center for Energy Innovation (CEI) at UConn. The Center will focus on critical issues of energy production, storage, and distribution.
