• 12/20/2017 Gov. Malloy Announces Housing Unit at Manson Youth Institution to Close as a Result of Juvenile Justice Reforms and Declining Crime Rate

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that as a result of the state’s recently enacted juvenile justice reforms and the continuing decline in the crime rate and prison population, the Connecticut Department of Correction (DOC) will be closing one of the ten housing units at the Manson Youth Institution in Cheshire. The unit closure will save the state over $600,000 in annual operating costs.

• 12/26/2017 Gov. Malloy Activates State’s Severe Cold Weather Protocol Through Next Tuesday

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that in anticipation of temperatures over the next several days that are forecast to be bitter cold with negative wind chill factors at times, he is activating the state’s Severe Cold Weather Protocol beginning today and remaining in effect through Tuesday, January 2, 2018. This is the first time so far this winter season that the protocol has been enacted.

• 12/27/2017 Gov. Malloy Announces State Grants to Encourage Transit-Oriented Development and Responsible Growth Across Connecticut

  Governor Malloy today announced that eleven projects in towns and cities across Connecticut will receive $15 million in funding under a competitive grant program that supports transit-oriented development and responsible growth in the state and is targeted at boosting economic activity and creating jobs.

• 12/29/2017 Gov. Malloy: State Resurfaced 260 Two-Lane Miles of Roadways in 2017

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) resurfaced a total of 260 two-lane miles of roadways this construction season. Approximately 55 two-lane miles of that amount was completed under CTDOT’s Pavement Preservation Program, which includes crack filling, surface patching, drainage repairs, and other rehabilitation work to extend the life of existing roadways.
