  On Friday, Governor Malloy will continue speaking to Connecticut citizens about his budget proposal, and hear their thoughts and suggestions, as well. With his new Labor Commissioner Glenn Marshall, Governor Malloy will speak with labor groups about his proposal and answer questions they may have.

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the U. S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) recently approved a new Employment and Day Supports Waiver that will help the state Department of Developmental Services (DDS) improve access to services for people with developmental disabilities.

• 3/10/2011 Gov. Malloy Activates Emergency Operations Center Tonight at 11 p.m.

  After a conference call with Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security (DEMHS) staff and key commissioners, Governor Dannel P. Malloy ordered the state's Emergency Operations Center within the State Armory to be opened at 11 p.m. this evening.

• 3/3/2011 Gov. Malloy Appoints ING Executive Catherine Smith to Lead Department of Economic and Community Development

  In one of his highest profile appointments to date, Governor Dannel P. Malloy today named ING executive Catherine Smith to lead the Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD). Smith, who lives in Northford, has worked for ING for the past 10 years; prior to that, she worked at Aetna for 17 years.

• 3/24/2011 Gov. Malloy Announces Appointment of Joseph Perkins as Deputy Commissioner of Veterans Affairs

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy announced today that Joseph T. Perkins of Niantic has been appointed to be the Deputy Commissioner of Veterans Affairs. Most recently, Perkins worked as the Manager of Security Services at Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford. He is a 22-year veteran of the Connecticut State Police Department and was a member of both the United States Marine Corps, during which time he served in Vietnam in 1965-1966, and the Connecticut Army National Guard.

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy ordered that the Connecticut and U.S. flags be returned to full staff at sunset today.

• 3/22/2011 Gov. Malloy Appoints Fairfield First Selectman Ken Flatto as Executive Director of Division of Special Revenue

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he has appointed Fairfield First Selectman Kenneth Flatto as Executive Director of the Division of Special Revenue. The Division of Special Revenue is responsible for managing various special revenues and for regulating legalized gaming in the State of Connecticut, including the Lottery and Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun.

• 3/1/2011 Gov. Malloy Orders Flags to Half Staff for Pfc. David R. Fahey, Jr.

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today ordered the Connecticut and U.S. flags to fly at half staff in honor of Private First Class David R. Fahey, Jr., who was killed yesterday morning after finishing a patrol in Afghanistan.

• 3/30/2011 Gov. Malloy Appoints Membership of Criminal Justice Commission

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he has appointed six highly respected lawyers and jurists to the state’s Criminal Justice Commission. Governor Malloy named Justice Richard N. Palmer of Cromwell; Judge Juliett L. Crawford of New Haven; Mary M. Galvin of West Haven; Maura H. Horan of South Windsor; Moy N. Ogilvie of West Hartford; and Ann G. Taylor of Weatogue.

• 3/17/2011 Gov. Malloy's Town Hall Meeting in Hartford on Monday Relocated to RJ Kinsella Magnet School

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy’s office today announced that Monday’s Town Hall Meeting scheduled in the City of Hartford has been moved to RJ Kinsella Magnet School of Performing Arts.

• 3/7/2011 Governor Malloy Activates State Emergency Operations Center to Assist Towns and Cities With Possible Flooding Conditions

  Governor Malloy has directed the Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security (DEMHS) to activate the state Emergency Operations Center (EOC) in the event towns and cities need assistance due to flooding conditions and to monitor conditions across the state. The EOC is being staffed by DEMHS, along with DOT, DPS and the Military Dept.

• 3/27/2011 Monday: Governor Malloy Addresses Future Business Leaders Event in Cromwell, Holds Town Hall in Greenwich

  On Monday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will give the keynote speech at the Connecticut Future Business Leaders of America’s State Leadership Conference in Cromwell. Approximately 800 FBLA students, their advisors, and representatives from the business industry will attend the conference, which features competitive events for the students and business-related workshops.

  On Tuesday evening, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will address the Waterbury Regional Chamber at their Legislative Dinner in Southbury, where he will speak about his efforts to improve the business climate in Connecticut and get our state’s fiscal house in order to help create new jobs and keep the ones we have.
