Governor Dannel P. Malloy, joined by Connecticut Airport Authority Chair Mary Ellen Jones and Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) Commissioner Catherine Smith, today announced that the 11-member Connecticut Airport Authority (CAA) Board of Directors has unanimously voted to create an economic development incentive zone at Waterbury-Oxford Airport, Connecticut's busiest general aviation airport.

Gov. Malloy: Grants Help Towns Invest in Quality of Life Improvements
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that 17 small towns throughout Connecticut are being awarded grants under the state’s Small Town Economic Assistance Program (STEAP) to be utilized for certain capital improvement projects, such as road maintenance, public works upgrades, public safety improvements and other municipal service projects.

Gov. Malloy: Improved State Financial Aid Program Will Ensure Fairer Process and Help Students Better Prepare for College
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that his plan to improve Connecticut's financial aid system is underway and being administered by the Office of Higher Education. The new Governor's Scholarship Program establishes a single, consolidated need-based aid program for residents who are undergraduates at in-state public and private institutions of higher education, and replaces the state's existing student aid programs - Connecticut Aid to Public College Students (CAPCS), Connecticut Independent College Student Grant (CICSG), the Capitol Scholarship, and Connecticut Aid to Charter Oak.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy, White House Council on Environmental Quality Chair Nancy Sutley, U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal, and other state and local officials gathered today in Hartford to highlight the state's progress to mitigate the impact of climate change and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Connecticut's work to harden energy infrastructure and modernize its electric grid, as well as the state's progress in reducing harmful carbon emissions through investments in transportation, renewable energy projects, and energy efficiency initiatives position the state as a leader in the clean energy economy.

Gov. Malloy: Connecticut's Annual Sales Tax-Free Week Runs August 18-24
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today reminded Connecticut residents about the state's upcoming sales tax-free week - an annual holiday that allows shoppers to purchase most individual items of clothing and footwear priced under $300 without having to pay the usual sales and use tax. This year's tax-free week runs from Sunday, August 18 through Saturday August 24.
