Governor Malloy Selects Daniel Esty to Head Newly Fused Department of Energy - Environmental Protection
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today named Yale professor Daniel C. Esty to be the commissioner of his new Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP), an agency that will consolidate Connecticut’s widely dispersed energy functions, including the Department of Public Utility Control, with the Department of Environmental Protection to allow for a more effective coordination of state energy and environmental policies.

Governor Malloy: Unemployment Insurance Benefits Go Paperless, Achieves Noteworthy Savings
Governor Dannel P. Malloy announced today that a move by the state Department of Labor towards a new paperless direct deposit system for unemployment insurance benefits will save the state approximately $300,000 a month on printing and mailing costs – a notable shift toward finding efficiencies that reduces state spending while improving services. The Governor said the move is an example of the type of change he would like to carry across all state departments as he continues looking for ways to reduce costs.

Governor Malloy: Businesses Interested in First Five Program Should Contact Office Directly
Last week, Governor Dannel P. Malloy announced the creation of his ‘First Five’ initiative—a new program that will provide incentives to the first five businesses that each bring a minimum of 200 new full-time jobs to the state within the next 24 months. Today, Governor Malloy announced that companies interested in the program should call his office directly to learn more.

Governor Malloy's Budget: Creates Jobs, Shares the Sacrifices that Need to be Made, and is Balanced With No Gimmicks
